Inspired by their passion for great wines and the incomparable beauty of Margaret River, Cape Mentelle Winery settled on a rugged cape, where two deep blue oceans meet and a vast continent ends. With very little resources but a bucket load of freedom and ambition, they planted some of the very first vines of the region amongst the native marri trees. Everything was crafted from scratch including their rammed earth buildings using the local soils. From this isolated corner of the world, they strived to forge the reputation of Margaret River capturing the raw beauty of their wild place in each bottle of wine they make.

Cape Mentelle has over 150 hectares of its own vines across four vineyards within the Margaret River region. Primary plantings are cabernet sauvignon, semillon and sauvignon blanc, with smaller amounts of shiraz, chardonnay, merlot, cabernet franc and zinfandel.

At Cape Mentelle they draw inspiration from the great wines of the world. This is reflected in the techniques employed in their vineyards as they aim to produce wines that capture a unique sense of place in every bottle.Their philosophy extends beyond the glass as they endeavour to create a legacy of sustainability and longevity.

Since the first vineyards were planted in 1967 this prestigious wine region has been receiving international recognition for wines of exceptional quality. From idyllic forests to pristine surf beaches, award winning wines and fresh regional produce, Margaret River has much to offer.
